Sheree is one of those rare people that you meet and you instantly feel warm, she just a wonderful and nurturing soul. Sheree believes that art is her happy place and provides her with an escape to get lost in the beautiful world of creativity.
She says, "Painting for me is a form of meditation where I can find stillness and release. My art journey began as gifting memories for people. I love to capture the beauty of moments and the way it touches people, especially when the subject is a lost loved one, an old family home or a moment people have cherished. It’s a way to capture the essence of a person and sharing their memory. The significance of the subject creates a bond between people. In particular, my love for painting the sea was inspired by the passing of my niece in 2019. She had a real fascination for the sea and spent hours capturing photos and gazing out at the water. My art journey started at the ocean, recreating her memories as a way to remember and connect with her. The sea has a way of opening us up. The expanse of water opens a part of our hearts. It can shift our focus and ease tension. Painting the ocean helps me concentrate on the beauty in the world. It lifts me up to a place of hope and positivity."
Sheree's inspiration for art comes from the sea, her niece, and the unpredictability that is attached to it. She believes that the sea is ever-changing - one day it may be churning and rough, and the next it can be calming and glistening - but in all of its forms, it is beautiful. This is what she loves to explore through her process of creating art. All of her pieces are so different and unique and do a fantastic job of capturing the chaos and the stillness of the ocean. Sheree's artworks are also all so cohesive and you can see the passion and emotion she puts into creating every piece, which is a true pleasure to have exhibiting in the gallery.
